SURREY CITY COUNCIL

SPECIAL MEETING

MONDAY, JUNE 30, 2008

 

Mayor Steve Fennewald called the special meeting to order at 7:13p.m. Present were Council Members Terry Johnson, Blaine Klein (when noted), Dana Larsen, Kevin Nelsen, and Laura Volk.  Also present was City Auditor Elaine Christianson.  Absent was Council Member Jarvis Sasse. 

 

This was a special meeting to review Pat Kraft’s Subdivision plan and zone change, to conduct interviews for the Public Works Supervisor position, and to discuss filling the Public Works Supervisor position.

 

As no one attended the Public Hearing for the subdivision plan and zone change for Pat Kraft’s Outlot 18, Section 30, T155N, R81W, Ward County, the Planning and Zoning Commission recommended Council approve the requests.  Discussion was held regarding process.  Volk made a motion, seconded by Nelsen to approve the preliminary plat of the subdivision of Outlot 18, Section 30, T155N, R81W, Ward County and the zone change for said subdivision.  Roll call vote:  Volk-aye; Larsen-aye; Nelsen-aye; Johnson-aye; motion carried.

 

Greg Lemer was interviewed by telephone at 7:30pm.  Clifford Nelson was interviewed in City Hall at 8:00pm.  Council Member Blaine Klein entered at 8:10pm.

 

After the interviews were conducted, discussion was held on applicants.  Motion made by Volk, second by Larsen, for Christianson to check references on both applicants, and report results to Mayor Fennewald.  If references check out, Mayor Fennewald to offer the position to Lemer at a wage range of $16.00 to $17.00 per hour.  Roll call vote:  Volk-aye; Larsen-aye; Nelsen-nay; Johnson-aye; Klein-aye; motion carried.

 

Discussion was held regarding Frank Wollschlager offering to work Fridays.  Motion made by Larsen, second by Volk, to authorize the Mayor to call Wollschlager as needed for work.  Roll call vote:  Larsen-aye; Nelsen-aye; Johnson-aye; Volk-aye; Klein-aye; motion carried.

 

No further business to discuss, Mayor Fennewald adjourned the meeting at 9:05p.m.
