April 13, 2007 - Special Meeting

SURREY CITY COUNCIL

EMERGENCY SPECIAL MEETING

FRIDAY, APRIL 13, 2007

A conference call meeting was held at 3:00p.m.  Mayor Steve Fennewald called the meeting to order. Present were Council Members Terry Johnson, Blaine Klein, Dana Larsen, Kevin Nelsen, Jarvis Sasse, and Laura Volk.  Also present was City Auditor Elaine Christianson.

The emergency special meeting was held as the Junior Class at the Surrey School had been selling raffle tickets and the school had not purchased a blanket raffle permit this year.  Christianson explained she had contacted the North Dakota Attorney General’s office to inquire how to handle this matter.  The options included either return all the monies and cancel the raffle, return all the monies and reschedule the raffle, or have City Council hold a special meeting to review the raffle permit application.

Christianson explained the Surrey School has submitted the paperwork and fee and all is in order as of the beginning of meeting.  Also, the Surrey School is requesting the council members waive their Special Meeting fee/pay.  Discussion held.

Johnson made a motion to approve the raffle permit application for the Surrey School Junior Class and to waive the council members Special Meeting fee/pay.  Larsen seconded.  Roll call vote:  Johnson-aye; Larsen-aye; Sasse-aye; Volk-aye; Nelsen-aye; Klein-aye.  All aye, motion carried.

Motion to adjourn by Klein.  Johnson seconded.  All aye, meeting/conference call adjourned.

THESE MINUTES HAVE NOT YET BEEN APPROVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL.
