August 27, 2007 - Special Meeting

SURREY CITY COUNCIL

SPECIAL MEETING

MONDAY, AUGUST 27, 2007

 

Present were Council Members Terry Johnson, Blaine Klein, Dana Larsen, Kevin Nelsen, Jarvis Sasse, and Laura Volk.  Also present were Chief of Police Brad Seideman, PWS Frank Wollschlager, and City Auditor Elaine Christianson.  Mayor Steve Fennewald was absent.

 

Council President called the meeting to order at 7:30p.m. 

 

Christianson presented the preliminary budget to Council line by line.  Discussion held as required regarding line items.

 

Wollschlager reported on the condition of the city pickup.  Discussion was held regarding Wollschlager’s wish list of a sweeper for the tractor and an office for the Auditor next to the police department and away from his shop fumes.

 

Seideman presented a list of requested items for the police department that included a 2008 Ford Expedition with equipment and light bars, a long gun and mount, a vest, a taser, and a radar gun.  Discussion held regarding revenue and expenses, prioritization of wish list, and officer safety.  

 

Motion made by Volk to approve the preliminary budget with the proposed changes.  Klein seconded.  Roll call vote:  Volk-aye; Klein-aye; Sasse-aye; Nelsen-aye; Johnson-aye.  All aye, motion carried. 

 

Motion to adjourn by Johnson.  Klein seconded.  Meeting adjourned at 9:35 p.m.
