SURREY CITY COUNCIL

PUBLIC HEARING

MONDAY, JULY 10, 2006

Present were Mayor Steve Fennewald, Council Members Terry Johnson, Dana Larsen, Kevin Nelsen, Jarvis Sasse, and Laura Volk.  Also present was City Auditor Elaine Christianson.  Absent was Council Member Blaine Klein.

Mayor Fennewald called the meeting to order at 6:30p.m. 

A Request for Variance for N 68’ of Lot 7, Block 4, Dresher’s First Addition to the City of Surrey for Jacob and Marlene Feigitsch was discussed as a proposed deck will not meet the front set back.  Mrs. Feigitsch is requesting the variance for the deck as her husband is disabled and stairs can be a problem for him.  By constructing a deck on the front of the home, Mr. Feigitsch will be able to go outside, onto the deck, without any help.  More discussion held.  Sasse made a motion to approve the variance.  Johnson seconded.  Roll call vote:  Volk-aye; Sasse-aye; Larsen-aye; Nelsen-aye; Johnson-aye.  All aye, motion carried.

A Request for Variance for Lot 4, Block 4, Original Townsite, City of Surrey for Daniel Jung was discussed as this lot does not meet the minimum lot size requirements.  Mr. Jung is requesting a variance as he purchased this property, is in the process of improving the property including water and sewer hookups, a new frost foundation, remodeling inside and out and would like to sell this property as a home.  More discussion held.  Larsen made a motion to approve the variance.  Volk seconded.  Roll call vote:  Volk-aye; Sasse-aye; Larsen-aye; Nelsen-aye; Johnson-aye.  All aye, motion carried.
